My RaytTheNet co-founder Joe Solomon's project KnowMore and the Kenyan activists behind Ushahidi.com are both contestants in this year's NetSquared Mashup Challenge. Please vote for them. The deadline is tomorrow (Friday) at 5pm PST. You can vote for multiple applicants after you create an account with NetSquared.
Here's Joe's message:
- Thanks again for checking on KnowMore.org. I got the word out and now it's back up :-)
I was hoping I could ask you to vote on the KnowMore Firefox Extension for the NetSquared Mashup Challenge...
In addition to the KnowMore project, Ushahidi entered, as did a project Joanna is working on in New Orleans.
KnowMore.org Firefox Extension
Ushahidi: Mapping Reports of Post-Election Violence in Kenya
I-Witness: Central City | NetSquared, a project of TechSoup.org
What's the extension, you ask? Well, after you install it, we're going to alert you whenever you visit the websites of companies that are endangering our planet and/or threatening the quality of life of people and communities around the world.
Since KnowMore.org has a growing directory of over 200 corporate "responsibility profiles", I thought a Firefox extension would be a perfect fit! I figured with my experience with RaytTheNet and FireChange, we could combine forces to make something that could have a really big impact.
So I called KnowMore up about a month ago – and long story short, we just entered the NetSquared Mashup Challenge in order to recruit the technology expertise and funds to make it happen. The top 20 projects that recruit the most votes will win resources and will compete to share $100,000!
This is where you come in – I need your vote!
